Nortávia. Since 1989.

Nortávia was established in 1989 and is today mostly dedicated to training professional pilots. From its inception, the company has assumed its position as a reference in the aviation sector in the North of Portugal.

This positioning has always been a priority for Nortávia which, beyond its core business, has always invested in the development of the aeronautics field, not only by training specialized personnel but also on the research and development of pioneering project such as GAYA, a lighter-than-air airship built as a nature friendly alternative for transport.

At the very beginning of its operation, Nortávia trained private pilots and did various aerial work such as photography and banner towing.

Nortávia played a key role on the construction of the Maia Aerodrome, wich revealed to become extremely important for its development allowing the company to progress towards the training of professional pilots and raising all its operation to a higher standard.

Today, located in the beautiful area of Vilar de Luz, just off Porto, Nortávia provides jobs for more than fourty people that ensure the proper operation of its fleet of 22 aircraft and the training of an ever-growing number of ATPL(A) student-pilots to a standard of excellence.

This focus on quality can be perceived by the company’s ongoing investment in infrastructures, the increase of the fleet and the inclusion of glass cockpits for the more advanced phases of instruction.
